My family has expanded over the last 10 years and I am so grateful but I have not forgot about that Midwife and I will never forget what she did to my family, to my sweet baby girl. Thank you everyone who has supported my Blog and Aminahs cause. Stay tuned for more blog post.

I Finally Got a Birth Certificate for Akilah, Aminah's Twin

Image
Wow, it's been a long time coming. Aminah has been gone almost 5 years now. Time moves so fast. I literally can not believe it. Although I have not blogged in a while, my fight for Aminah has not stopped. As we have added to our family I can't help but to know for sure that my Twin's death was definitely due to negligence of that Midwife. Anyways.........I'm proven record that you may still receive a delayed birth certificate for a home birth. Here a few pictures of what Aminah would look like to this day. Dear Midwife Joann Falcon

Image
Dear Midwife Joann Falcon, I don't know if you remember me but I chose you as my midwife and you failed me. I chose you as a midwife and you mislead me. I chose you as a midwife and I paid you, even bought all the supplies that you suggested. I trusted you and you failed me. Mislead and ignored me. I chose to talk about my Home Birth disaster even after I knew that I would be ridiculed. I took that risk. I just want the world to know I will never stop showing your face. Yes, your face. The face of the midwife that stood me up at my birth and ran after my baby died. Never made a visit, never sent any flowers, and never sent your condolences. I guess you felt like you didn't owe me that. I guess you felt you didn't owe my daughter that but because of that I will never stop talking about you. I will never stop mentioning your name as the midwife from hell. That's exactly what you are. I hope that one day you will consider what you did and how messy you were and ...

The Death Photographer

Image
The Death Photographer Standing in Aminah’s room the door slowly opened and a head peeked through. There was a Blondie lady standing in between the door smiling asking permission to come in. As I gave her permission to move forward, she stepped in and shut the large door behind her. She introduced herself as the nurse photographer. She walked over to me with a camera around her neck and a bright red folder. She pulled a chair for me to sit down and she sat loosely on the edge of Aminah’s bed. She began to open the bright red folder and out fell two pieces of paper in front of me. I had seemed to catch them in thin air before they hit the floor. Looking up at the nurse while arranging the papers she apologized and moved on to why she was there. The nurse photographer standing in front of me stated that she worked for the hospital and she was there to offer me moments with my daughter completely free of charge a courtesy of the hospital. I was confused ...

The Night Nurse

The Night Nurse   Old, Pale, and Fragile, The Night Nurse introduced herself by writing her name on the white board in  Aminah’s  room.  She walked right over to  Aminah  and began her routine vitals check.  She looked up at me and smiled. “How is she doing today?” The night nurse asked. “She is the same as the day before”, I replied. I immediately walked over to twin  Akilah  crying for milk in her car seat.  I carefully picked  Akilah  up and out of her car seat and began to playfully bounce her around while pacing the floor of  Aminah’s  room.  The walking around  Aminah’s  room was not pleasing twin  Akilah’s  cries.  Walking over to the single couch sitting in the corner of the room I began to prop  Akilah  for a feeding.  As I began to pull my breast out to feed, I noticed the nurse pulling the curtain surrounding me, allowing me privacy while breast-fee...

The Midwife From Hell

Laying in a puddle of blood on top on a gurney my second baby was born. Lifeless, pale, blue, and silent. My vision seemed to be blurry as though I was watching a horror movie through the lens of a camera. I knew something was wrong and the Midwife was not there. Something was very wrong

The Negro Child Birth Politician

Image
Every now and then someone reaches out to me. They have read my blog and feel inspired to share their stories. It would be such a beautiful experience if more women could come from under the bed and not be afraid anymore. Sure discussing experiences with each other always helps the soul but informing all women should be the focus. I have tried to partner with many people but somehow I have been told that my blog is to political. 😕😕😕. At first I though about it for a moment. It may be. Wow, just what the world needs a Negro childbirth politician. I am so tired of having to meet other peoples standards to fit in. I will not change the depth of the content. My message is always the same be smart when birthing at home. Signing off Dreah Louis The Midwife From Hell

Memoirs from Dreah Louis

I remember that day. That morning I knew I had to let you go. I was so hopeful. I was so faithful. My pain was real. I wanted to un-do it. I wanted to rewind time. I was lonely. I felt like a small child, feelings on the ground. I had to be strong because people were watching, waiting on me to break. I remember the late night drives to the hospital just to see you lay there, breathing but not alert. My heat broke every time I left your room and couldn't take you home. Deep down I knew the nightmare would eventually end but I never knew you were my sacrifice to wake up. I remember when your father was not strong enough to see you the way you were but I had to be. I was still your mommy. I hated not being able to be with you for 24 hours of the day. I have no idea the things they did to you  when I wasn't around. The bad new never stopped. I felt the doctors were so tired of comforting me that their support began to diminish when the medical charges continued to rack up. You ...

Ban Home Birth

I wonder how many women lost their baby to home birth and are just not speaking out about it? I wonder how many are blaming their self for the tragedy? I always wonder why the women decide to keep quiet. Actually, I know why they keep quiet. I remember when I first decided to open up about loosing my daughter to home birth, I remember how cruel women were to me. I was called every name in the book. I remembered getting so much hate mail. I remember so many women sharing my blog post in other groups talking bad about me. I remember all of that and if your not strong enough to deal with that, I can see why a woman would opt out to not share that tragedy. Maybe the women feels as though it was their fault. Maybe the midwife was able to brainwash her client making her feel like she did everything she could to save their baby.If you had your baby at home and something happened to your baby I just would like to let you know that all options were not exhausted. I started this blog to educat...

The Mid-Witch

I dedicate this chapter of my blog to the Mid-witch. I know your probably thinking what is a Mid-witch? A Mid-witch is a Midwife Witch. This Mid-witch is a woman that happens to be a midwife by profession but a witch by night. This woman studies birth, women, and babies but also does witch craft. I know most people reading this right now probably think that this is a joke but I am being so serious. The Mid-witch is sent out all over the world to do dirty work. I always wondered to myself. Did The Midwife From Hell that I chose, did she do what she did on purpose? Maybe she was jealous of my me because I was having twins. Maybe she sabotaged my birth on purpose. Maybe this isn't the first time she has done this. Maybe she did what she did because she knew that she was going to get away with it. The Mid-witch relies more on wit and faith when attempting to delivering babies. The Mid-witches worships the devil. Mid-witches don't use common sense. These women will do magic, put you...

Don't Believe The Home birth Hype

So many women across the world are deciding to home birth. They don't know anything about home birth and how dangerous it can be. Most women start researching the internet about home birth. They start watching home birth videos, they go to home birth blogs, they read books, the follow prominent famous midwives, they follow actresses and celebrities that have home birth. This is where women will get their information about home birth. Sad and dangerous all at the same time. No matter who's home birth story you follow no home birth will be the same. No one should ever trust a midwife alone at home to birth their baby. I write so many post in regarding home birth safety but I really think women are just more interested in my stupid decision to birth twins at home. I wish more women shared the education aspect of my blog instead of just the home birth story.  I am so over the fact the women feel as though I made a bad decision when choosing to home birth twins. Midwives hear in Ame...

Make sure your Midwife is an actual Midwife

As I sat in Jefferson City, Missouri for the Malpractice insurance bill 2189 I got to hear other stories of home birth disasters that happened in Missouri. The old couple sat next to me and my husband that day in Rep Franklin's office before the introduction of the bill was about to be heard on the floor. We properly introduced ourselves to each other in front of Rep Franklin's assistant in her small office. It was indeed unfortunate that we had to meet under those circumstances.  When it was time to appear on the floor to share our birth stories, the old couple lead with their story first. The husband sat in a chair beside his wife and allowed her to tell the story that they had drove for a while to say. The mother said that her daughter was unable to be there to tell her birth story because she had died the day that she gave birth. Their grandson had died also. The old woman also told the counsel of representatives that the midwives in charge of delivery and the care for he...

Sweet Memories and Words for June 17th

Image
June 17, was the day of celebration for Aminah's passing. I just sat back really sad thinking about all the memories of that day. That even has shaped my life in so many ways. I am thankful for the years that have followed that day. Oh how I miss you so, sweet Aminah, I feel your pretty presence everyday. -Love Always,    Your beautiful Mother      Dreah Louis

Last Communication From NARM Accountability Committee

Image
I didn't want to do this because Rachel asked me not to. I actually think it's way over due. Below is an email that was sent from Rachel Williston. She sent me this email after NARM informed me that there was going to be no punitive action against Joann Falcon. More education was the verdict. The email below was sitting in my email inbox in october just out the "blue". I sent in the requested information and you know what happened after that.                                       NOTHING I even emailed both Rachel and Shannon back and they have not returned my email. On Saturday, October 4, 2014 10:57 PM, Rachel Williston < godsmidwife@gmail.com > wrote: Hi Andrea, I see from your blog that Congratulations are in order! I am very happy for you.  Our Missouri Midwives Association Board has decided there needs to be more in depth follow up on the recom...

INFORMED CONSENT

Image
Don't just let your midwife slide you the Informed Consent form and not go over it. You would be surprised a lot of midwives do this. Informed Consent  is a process for getting permission before conducting a health care intervention on a person. A  health care provider  may ask a patient to  consent  to receive therapy  before providing it. How many women have had their midwife discuss with them their disclosure? The reason why I ask this question is because women are being processed for candidates for home birth but have not passed the health care assessments to be able to fulfill a potential spot for a desired home birth.  Believe me what I say when I say, woman choose to home birth because we want to birth away from hospital technology and get back to the basics of natural birth. That is still my theory today but I must say you can have a natural birth in a hospital setting.  I am not completely against home birth but I am for...

GOOGLE'S misrepresentation of Home Birth

Image
When you type in the simple word, "Home Birth" below are the links and information that is available. There is a problem with this. The problem is that when most women gather their information regarding home birth. The disaster stories are hidden under rest of the home birth information. When women are planning to home birth they do not search home birth disasters because in their mind they are not preparing for a disaster. Google search can misrepresent home birth in many ways. Google can make home birth appear safe in all aspects, it hides criminal midwives, and it most definitely hides the risk assessments. Yes, Yes, Yes, it is always up to the parents to do the research regarding home birth and boy let me tell you that is a lot of research. There will be nothing that can prepare you for something like the midwife being late or not showing at all to the birth. There will be nothing that can prepare you if you chose an uneducated midwife. So, Please let your search...
